Geocache Description:

It's here again! Once again, the Geeks of Central Texas are proud to present GEEKFEST, an event where you can get all those geeky questions answered ... about computer programs ... AND about your GPSr and how it operates! Please note the date in the HIDDEN space above. It's the 3rd Saturday in September.

If you haven't heard about Geekfest, here's what it's about - geocachers helping other geocachers learn (even remotely) geeky stuff!
The event will be held, in part, outdoors at a location to be determined, but probably somewhere along the river. This segment will include a geocaching "demo" and "how to" WHICH IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. We'll need plenty of geocachers to help with this, acting as "tour guides" for the participants. UPDATE: Outdoor segment is 8 a.m. at Kreig Fire Training Tower, N30 14.712 W97 42.877.
The really Geeky stuff will be presented INDOORS at the RUIZ Branch Library, in the wonderful Air-Conditioned Meeting Room, complete with wireless internet access. The library is at 1600 Grove Blvd, just off East Riverside Dr. The room is reserved for their open hours that day, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Expect this to be an ALL DAY event if you want to attend both the outdoor and indoor segments.
We're going to get pizza for lunch, with everyone chipping in, so bring a little cash. WE NEED YOU TO RSVP SO WE KNOW HOW MUCH AND WHAT TOPPINGS TO ORDER. In addition, please sign up to bring one of the following: 1)ice; 2)cold drinks; 3)veggies/fruit/dessert/snacks you can eat with your fingers (cookies, brownies, crackers & cheese, etc). Cups, plates and napkins are covered.
Please tell us what you would like to learn so we can make sure we have it in the curriculum. No question is insignificant! No question is too tough (we still have Alan the GPSBabel Geek's phone number!), either. Of course, if you ask a question, we WILL expect you to show up to get the answer!
If anyone has a teenager(s) (I didn't think it was PC to limit it to daughters) who would like to babysit on site for us during the day, we would like to offer that service. We'll ask the parents to compensate her/them, of course! Maybe they can state their rates.
