Place Fell (AW FE 20) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Moacky: Sadly I am archiving this cache before the Reviewer does it for me. The estate wanted me to pay a permission fee for the cache, and take out liability insurance in case someone fell over whilst searching. So one of Wainwright's favourite fells will now be cacheless - but it is still an excellent hill, and well worthy of a bit of your time. I originally adopted this cache in May 2011 to prevent it being archived, so I suppose we can be grateful for the extra seven and a half years.
Cheers, enjoy the hills, Peter.

Geocache Description:

Place Fell 2156ft asl

This cache has recently been adopted to prevent it being archived. Obviously these ‘mountain’ caches are harder to maintain than their lowland or urban cousins. They may well be at less risk from thoughtless removal; but they are much more exposed to the ravages of the weather. In order to make a cache owners life more bearable it would be nice if all hill walking cachers would take some responsibility for their maintenance by carrying a small clip lock box, spare log sheet and pencil. If the cache contains wet or damp material please remove it. If the box is not substantial enough then replace it. If it is blowing a hoolie then consider whether you really need to open the box just to sign the log – we’ll all believe you – or take a picture and post it. If for some reason you DNF then please log that – it all helps monitor the cache for us – some caches go for months between visits, especially through the winter months.
The summit caching league tables and associated website are still run by
