Geocache Description:

By doing this little hike in the mountains, you will have one of the most beautiful views over upper carinthia I know and you even must not be a well trained climber…

The area I will lead you is almost untrodden by tourists and the chance to enjoy the nature and the prospect by your own is really high…
Take a look at the Millstättsersee, Spittal an der Drau till Villach in the east. In the south you have the enormous backdrop of the Gailtaler alps, the Karnischen alps and the south alps.
In the west the Möll- and the upper Drautal lie to your feet…

I guess the whole cachesearch including the hike should not take more than 2 hours…

You do not have a chance to do this cache when there is much snow!
Stay on the marked hiking trail till you have reached “the insect’s mouth”!

Start your search at a really lovely hut – which is also farmed – called “Christebauerhütte”.
You can reach the “Christebauerhütte” from Göriach in about 8 km just follow the markers – park your car in front of the hut and start searching for stage 1…
For Mapview: (visit link)

Stage 1: “The old and the young one” – Coordinates: N: 46° 52.259’; E: 013° 23.592’
Search for a really old, rotten tree stump which is protected by his “younger brother” – a big, vital tree. You will find the coordinates for stage 2 – which is called “the rock” in a glass hidden in this old, rotten tree stump. 2013-06-04: all trees have been cut down but the cache is still there.

Stage 2: “The rock”
The rock protects the final coordinates for “the insect’s mouth”…

Stage 3: “The insect’s mouth”
When you have reached “the beast’s head” you have to search for “the insect’s mouth” – be careful not to loose your fingers when opening “the insect’s mouth” because the beast is always hungry….
The cache is a plastic box containing:
A log book, 2 pencils - a little horseshoe and a keychain I have put in for trading…
