KOS MOUNTAINS is the third and last GeoCache I placed in Kosovo. In opposite to the other two it is placed in the south of Kosovo, near to the border to Macedonia.
KOS MOUNTAINS is placed near to Brezovica, a Serbian enclave near to the border to Macedonia.
The cache is hidden in the forests on the high mountains in a height of nearly 1.500 m.
In summer you can approach to the cache to 200 m, then you have to walk into the forests. If you are as lazy as I am AND own a 4 x 4 vehicle, you can approach to the cache less than 10 meters.
I advise to use the parking lot (check additional waypoint) and walk to the cache the last 200 m.
Even if the cache is only 400 meters away from the next asphalt road, it will be impossible to find it in winter because of the snow in that area.
But even in summer there might be a problem to find the cache due to the leave of the trees. My GPS (eTrax) was not really happy about the leave. For that you find a description how to find the cache without GPS in the hint.
Be aware that you have to leave the dirt road to find the cache. Not for far, but nevertheless – the area is quite steep there. And especially after rain it might be slippery and muddy.
Attached you find three pictures. Two of them contain major spoilers. So be careful with open the pictures. Picture 1 shows a general overview of the place, where the cache is hidden (including a mark of the place), picture 2 shows in detail where to find the cache. Picture 3 is harmless. It shows the view to the forests from the parking lot.
The Cache itself is a tupper-like plastic-box, 20 x 15 x 9 cm. It contains
- a logbook (please don’t remove)
- a pen (please don’t remove)
- a laminated information sheet for people who found the Cache by accident (please don’t remove)
- keyholder “Kosovo”
- a hook with keyrings
- a whistle
- a small LED lamp
- a snap-hook with compass
- a lanyard keychain “Deutschland”

General advice: All over in Kosovo there are some animals using poison for hunting (spiders, snakes, scorpions). Some of them live and / or sleep under stones and in holes, favored places to hide GeoCaches. So be careful when turning around stones or grabbing into holes. I advice to use gloves!
