The 10th of may 1945 A Stirling aircraft LK147 took part in "Operation Doomsday". It took off from Shepherds Grove, along with 14 other Stirlings. 13 of these returned to base, as low clouds, fog and rain set in. One of the Stirlings managed to land at Gardermoen.
The LK147 was only about one kilometer from the runway when it crashed. Eyewitnesses said that they could see smoke and fire in an engine on the left side of the plane before it crashed into the ground, killing all onboard. They were first buried at the crashsite, but were later moved to Vestre Gravlund in Oslo There are plans to place a memorial rock at this place in 2007.
There is a blue marked path wich can lead you to the cache site, starting at the southwestern end of the western runway from Gardermoen airport.
The cache is a standard plastic foodbox placed in a manmaid "birds nest". It contents some small items for they who wants to swap something, read; children!
Preferred tradables are airplane related items
Cache coordinates can be a little bit wrong because of the rugged area.
