This is one of an occasional cache series based on the castles of Nottinghamshire
Bothamsall Castle is an earthwork motte, with a strong rampart encompassing the summit. This rampart is more powerful where the ground is level but the position of the bailey has been lost. The remains of a ditch surrounds the base of the motte and the dense cover of trees, makes it best viewed in winter.
The cache is very much a drive-by!!
Try to replace the cache as you found it.
The cache container is very small and has only room for very very small exchange items.
