Geocache Description:

Located at the Mynydd Mawr Woodland Park in the Gwendraeth Valley, an easy walk through beautiful woods.

The Mynydd Mawr Woodland Park comprises 100 hectares (250 acres) of former colliery land in the Communities of Llannon and Gorslas. The two pits that once stood here were closed during the 1960's and the whole site was later opencasted.

Today, the park has a rich assortment of plant and animal life and important managed habitats. A network of footpaths gives easy access for walkers to meadows and woodlands.

From the main car park, follow the "Board Walk" until you reach the clearly marked "Woodland Walk". Follow the path and when you reach a peculiar hut on your right, keep left and the sound of the stream will lead you to the cache.

Remember, it's a woodland walk so expect some mud! The park also has some other walks and picnic areas which you might be interested in.
