Geocache Description:

This is our first puzzle cache. We are big fans of the Haunted Decatur book series and decided to place a cache in honor of it.

One of the most common legends concerning Decatur and local cemeteries is the story of the "Devil's Chair." The story of the Devil's Chair, or the modern version of it, first began in the Appalachian Mountains in the middle years of the 1800's. Legend had it that on certain nights a chair would rise out of the ground in the local graveyard. Anyone who sat down in the chair could make a pact with the Devil and receive his heart's desire for the next seven years. At the end of that time, the Devil would return and take your soul. The story has changed and modified over the years, taking on a more simple flavor. The local legends say that anyone who sits down in a Devil's Chair will either become very sick or will die within a year. Decatur's famous Devil's Chair is located in Boiling Springs Cemetery which is on the far west side of the city, a short distance away from the Macon County Fairgrounds. It is one of the area's older graveyards and boasts the grave of John Hanks, the cousin of Abraham Lincoln.

The coordinates posted are not the final coords, they will only take you inside the cemetery. The numbers for the final can be retrieved from the three tombstones in the area. Walk this historic cemetery to find them for a greater challenge or use the hint.

Final coords = N AB CD.156 W 089 EF.0GH

1. For example: The first numbers after N go to Daniel A. Good - 1853-19AB
AB = the numbers you must find, and in this case the numbers are 39.

2. John P. Trimmer: 18CD-1940

3. Frank M. Cressler: 1861-19EF

4. Geo. W. Blakeman: 1882-GH45

Bonus Mission....
Find the Devil's Chair and take a picture of it or of you taking the challenge to sit in it. We leave it to you to decide the legend as fact or folklore.
