With the feedback I received on my first cache, Where Poppies Blow and Whistles Sing, I've been thinking about a sort of sequel in this location. Like its predecessor, this one is a puzzle/multicache that is intended to honor our veterans while also taking you to one of the most breathtaking views in Pike County. This one has some elements of a puzzle cache, as you will be required to do some basic math. Depending on your comfort level, a calculator may come in handy, and pen and paper will likely be helpful. The first stage is located at the given coordinates, and all the clues you need are found in the first three stages.
The entrance to this location is found along route 209 just South of Milford and very near its intersection with route 206. Please note that the site is available from 8am - 8pm. Please show the greatest respect for the location you'll be visiting. While only a few veterans were chosen out of many represented here, please respect them all as you do this cache.
The walk between the first three stages is extremely easy - more brain than brawn. It's the brief but more challenging hike to the final stage that earns this one its terrain rating.
Additional note as of 4/22/07: this cache was placed with no intent to fool/trick any geocacher, only muggles. The intent is to make you appreciate some very important people and to reward you with a great view. The significant hike indicated does not involve any of the first three stages - they are all very easy, short hikes, a matter of feet. Only the final involves a more significant hike.
