Heartland Cacher: Greetings I'm Heartland Cacher, one of the volunteer reviewers for new caches submitted to Geocaching.com.

It has been a while since I first looked at this cache. I can't find any recent responses from the Cache Owner about maintaining this cache which makes it appear the Cache Owner is either unwilling or unable to maintain the cache. Cache maintenance includes listing maintenance including updating any changes to the text, updating coordinates, removing needs maintenance attributes and enabling the listing. The cache will be archived and removed from the active cache listings.

Geocache Description:

This is a quick cache to get on the East side of Evanston - just a short distance from the I-80 exit. As you approach, check out the informational signs and an original Lincoln Highway marker.

The Sunset Motor Court Cabins have stood along Bear River Drive, formally the Lincoln Highway, for more than 70 years and once served as the accommodations for some of America’s most famous leaders, including Dwight D. Eisenhower. Today, the six quaint, adobe-like cabins are abandoned and boarded up, but certainly not forgotten. And as a testament to their historical notability in the community, the Evanston City Council recently adopted a resolution ratifying the action of the Evanston Historic Preservation Commission to designate the cabins as a locally significant cultural resource.

We thought that this would be a nice "coffee break" on your travels as it was years ago. Hamblin Park is next to this cache and is a nice place to stretch your legs, walk the dogs and let the kids play. This cache is accessible year round, though you may need to walk through some snow in winter. Cache will accommodate small trade items.
