Geocache Description:

This is the first of our "Welcome to ..."hides. It is a quick grab right off interstate 90, but we hope you'll stick around a while and experience all that Gillette has to offer!

Gillette, and Campbell County, Wyoming are known as the "Energy Capital of the Nation" for its massive deposits of Low Sulphur Coal, Natural Gas, Oil, and many other energy resources. Currently, Campbell County is estimated to have 30% of the countries coal reserve, accounting for nearly 1/4 of the nations electricity. In addition, the recently discovered pockets of Coal Bed Methane put the region in the top producers of natural gas in the US. Campbell County is roughly the size of Rhode Island, Vermont, and the District of Columbia combined, but we have a 2005 census count of only 37,000, versus 2.6 Million for the aformentioned states...(thats 5 times the population of the whole state of Wyoming). Gillette has a lot going on, so hang around, do some caching, and have some fun. This cache is in a small brown container.
