Geocache Description:

This is not an Interstate cache and should not be attempted from I-10. The road in this area has had some improvement lately, but can change quickly. the terrain my be an easy 1.5 or as hard as 4.5 from one day to the next. If you are brave a two wheel drive may work. I am not brave nor foolish. You shouldn't be either.

The jacket of the book, “Possum Trot,” by Anne L. Harwick copy written in 1968, depicts the area as harsh and desolate. “It is difficult to conceive that people such as described live and work under such miserable conditions. Yet it is certainly true. However, these folks are good, honest, sincere and God-fearing.” Anne L. Harwick Possum Trot.
Possum Trot is a simple story about simple people who worked hard just to survive. It is about people filled with hope who cared for each other. Most of all it is about the seeds or the roots of what would one day become Baker County. It’s about men and women of pride, character and determination. It’s about us.
