Geocache Description:

This is a scenic roadside look-out with lots of room to pull off the highway and park.
Here is the almost halfway point for the 1,370km. journey of this mighty river to the Pacific Ocean.

The Fraser river is the largest river in British Columbia and the headwaters start within Mount Robson provincial park.
The entire basin drains one third of the area of the province and is home to 63% of B.C.'s population.
With the most productive Salmon fishery in the world, the Fraser supports 5 species of Salmon and 40 native freshwater fish species.
Melting snow laiden with high silt content is the main source for the river, giving it the greyish brown colour. If you were to travel along the beginning stages in the mountains, you would see the difference as the colour is a much prettier glacial blue. The river carries an estimated 20 million tonnes of silt, clay and gravel annually, with 3.5 million tonnes being deposited in the lower reaches of the valley and the remainder being carried into the Strait of Georgia. As a result, the river channels require periodic dredging to maintain the deep sea marine traffic on the west coast.
Cache is in a small 3" tall container that is completely hidden. Room for a log book only.
