How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

This is a multi with a different sort of twist! Hope you have fun with it.

First, some important info: After obtaining the actual cache coordinates as described below, please use the above coordinates as your starting point to search for the cache. From there, your GPSr will lead you to an approved parking area for your geovehicle. If you approach from another direction, you won't end up in the right place.

So....how does this multi work? You'll have to earn the cache coordinates by convincing a couple random muggles to help you! You see, somewhere in the Upstate there are two separate pay phones, each of which has a sticker in the upper left corner of the kiosk. On each sticker is a portion of the coordinates you'll need in order to locate the cache. Your mission is to call each pay phone and hope a muggle answers. Then persuade them, beg them, or trick them into reading the numbers to you from the sticker. Check out the attached photo to see where both labels have been placed.

Pay phone #1: 864-220-9801
Pay phone #2: 864-284-9183

Note that each phone will only ring 4-5 times before automatically terminating the connection. At the pay phone, it simply stops ringing, but on the caller's end, it sounds like a fax machine. If you get this sound, just hang up and call again.....you don't have a wrong number.

The cache itself is a small Lock & Lock box which is hidden in a pretty standard manner. The level of difficulty comes from how hard it may be to get someone to answer the phones and then read the numbers to you.

Good luck! Please keep us all entertained by posting your story about how many times you called and what you did to get the coordinates. :)

Many thanks to Bilgeratt and Rainwater for permission to plagiarize an Oklahoma multi.
