in our disclaimer.
A kayak or canoe is the mode of transportation required to get to this cache.
The cache is located on the shores of Georgian Bay between Bayfield Inlet and the Naiscoot River. The area is called the Painted Rocks. There is good camping around the cache. Here is an extensive area of exposed shoreline rock swiriling with many colours and textures...quite unique and well worth the visit.
South access is from Bayfield Inlet (10 -12 km away). Parking at the marina in Bayfield cost $8.00 day.
There is a north access point on the Naiscoot River at Hwy 529 but permission to park there is required through the Shawanaga Indian band.
The cache itself is a peanut container. Contents are a pack of water proof matches. Please leave other survival swag. The log book is the topographic map of the region. Please sign the map.
Additionally, please indicate on the map your route to the cache and any hint or places to see along the way for the next paddlers. A black pen is provided.
For example...it is not advisable to paddle the Chicken Liver Channel until the water levels of Geogian Bay rise a bit. Also, the Inner Head Island to the north is a good picnic spot and a 10 km round trip from the cache.
As always, have fun and respect the Bay.
