This park has a lot of history, and culture attached to it. Here is the story:
The Parks Board took the land that is Grimmett Park, from an area that used to be farmed by the Grimmett family (pronounced Grim-ette).

The park's original intended use for the Grimmett Park land, when taken control of by the Parks Board in the 1930s was to make it a park. It was not made a park until 1999. The second half of the land was made into a park in 2002.

The Pacific Indoor Lawn Bowling Club occupied the park land from 1938 to 2002, paying only $1 a year for rent to the Parks Board.

Neighbours backyards extended onto the parkland, for a lease, taking up about a 1/6 of the parkland.

On some streets before the park was made, children had no place to play, except for small boulevardes. On most streets, there was at least one swing per. block.

After lobbying by many of the neighbours, this park was finally created, starting in 1999.

The first playground, made in 1999, was for 2-6 year olds, so older children still didn't have a very good place to play.

Finally the second half of the park was made in 2002. There is now a large area used for soccer, capture the flag, and other wide-games. If you visit this park, you will see how much the neighbourhood needed this park, as it is inhabited practically dawn to dusk.

Please don't include any hints in your log... I will give hints if I think they are necessary.

Note (Jan 13/07): Please note the way the lid is attached when you first find it, and replace it accordingly. There is no need for any sort of dissasembly, the container should come open easily.
