Natural Trail Kannoures - Kakopetria , for maximum enjoyment start from the north site of the trail. Go to Troodos squere and ask the local where the trail starts from.
This cache is for the adventurer nature lovers. Prepare for a long walk ( 6klm ) into one of the most beautiful natural trails of Troodos mountain. Cache E.M.E got its name from the place hosting it ,, “ Eliniki Metaleftiki Eteria “ ( Hellenic Mining Company )
The mine used to extract “ Chromium “ until 1981 where it was abandoned for unknown reasons ( the last entry in the payroll book that we found was dated September 1981 ). The main entrance of the mine is sealed with concrete. The area is quite interesting and the landscapes reathtaking.
Any salon car can take you to the start of the natural trail called Kannoures – Kakopetria , Elevation 1650 meters. ( opposite Troodos camping area ). Im sure that the department of forestry or the locals in the Trodos square can help you to find the North start of the trail. You do not need to take any water supplies for the long ride as you will walking along the river. Remember once you leave the car and follow the downhill Its only you God and nature.
The pictures posted speak for them selves the cache is located in a sealed grey water pipe ,, we did not wanted to make it hard to find as we wanted that you spend your time enjoying what is around rather than looking hard for it. We definitely recommend an early walk as the high site mountains provide shade until 9.00 am .

Warning : Although the main entrance to the mine is sealed several other mines without access barriers are located in the area. DO NOT attempt to enter. There is nothing
in there worth risking your life for.
