Whenever I hike on this trail, there are parts of it that make me think that a titan was playing with rocks, picking them up, setting them down haphazardly. You'll see what I mean if you walk starting at the trailhead nearest the water tank in the parking lot. Follow the right fork of the path to see Balance Rock. This area of the trail is near some sheer drops of 60 feet or more, and is not suitable for small children. You can follow the left fork and still get to the trail loop.
Don't put your hands in any hidey-holes - there are lots of snakes up here! The poison ivy is thick in the warm weather. There are several other caches on these trails, so spend some time and enjoy the last spot of wilderness in town.
FYI!! The trail has changed since we placed this cache. At the sign that indicates you need to turn left to continue, the trail used to continue on. The cache is down that old path about 300 feet. It's still there and still in good condition. All of colossus' rocks are still there, too. (this note added October, 2012)
