Background: We are placing some caches in the Corrales Bosque to complement Mission #06 – 08 as part of agent7719’s Mission, Bosque Bike Ride series. If you are doing these caches by bike or horse, just pick up these caches along the way. If you are walking, you might want to follow the directions given below to do #06 and #07, as well as Caterpillar Cave.
Directions: Park at the end of East Ella Drive. 35° 13.309 -106° 36.287
Proceed through the opening into the bosque.
In order to cross the 'cloudy' [or irrigation] ditch, you can turn South to cross over a wooden board, or turn North to cross over a Conservatory bridge (if you are scared of wooden boards).
Walk South to the bridge across the 'clear' ditch. The bridge is called the 'Boy Scout Bridge' in Corrales.
After crossing that bridge, take the right fork over the berm and into the woods.
The Bike Trail is the first path. 35° 13.188 -106° 36.377. Proceed North.
The cache: While we were walking in the bosque one day, a caterpillar approached us and appeared distressed because he didn’t have a place to spend the night. We suggested a safe place to sleep. The next morning, he turned into a butterfly, but we have hidden a cache in memory of the caterpillar.
