Geocache Description:

Stage # 1 now ready for winter
I place this cache to make you discover this little forest (OK big) and the multitude of trails in it. One thing I like about that trail system is that it's not well known. Take the time to look at some of the stones in the Grave Yard you will understand why I called it Ancestor's Trail. Once in the trail look at all the old trees. Many of them have been hit hard by those storms we get in the area. You will see that it's a Geocacher paradise. So many places to put caches. The final cache is about 0.92 km from the parking. It's my first cache so I would appreciate some feed back on how I did. The final cache is at ground level and is cover by Camouflage tape. Are you on the right trail for the final?

You will find parking at N 44.24.910 079.45.270 W

As the tradition goes here is part of the history of the place.
This is the sight
on the Seventh line of Vespra, Lot 16, of the former Christ
Anglican Church and Cemetery. All that remains today is the few headstones in
the cemetery and the Iron Gate.
This lot was given "for the erection of a church for the performance of
divine worship according to the rules and regulations of the Church of
England" on November
11, 1871, by Robert Leadlay. A little brick
church was built to serve the surrounding Communities.
The first rector was the Reverend Canon Doctor Edward Morgan.
During the war years the church closed down. On June
10, 1951, the church was again opened. A service of de-consecration was
held July 11, 1973, the Rt. Rev.A.A.,
Read officiating. Workmen from consumer's Gas, Company, Ontario Hydro,Bell Canada, Vespra
Township Roads department and the Ministry of Transportation and
Communication supervised the moving of the church building to the Simcoe County Museum at Midhurst,
just a few miles north of the original sight. In the summer of 1974 a special
dedication ceremony was held at the Museum.
Inside the church was a plaque which read: "Sacred to the memory of the
Reverend Edward Morgan, Canon of St. James Cathedral of Toronto Born Dec. 9, 1806 on the Island of St Vincent. Died Sept. 12, 1886, in Barrie. He was for 46 years an
eminently faithful minister of the Gospel. This church stands as a monument of
his zeal and untiring energy, having been built as a result of his devoted
effort in this congregation. “
There is
a log book for the historical part of the place at the mail box, but has
nothing to do with Geocaching.
Happy Geocaching
