starsnstripes: Archiving this event. We introduced 16 muggles to geocaching, maybe a few more that didn't sign the log. A huge success! Much thanks to the CEC for hosting this event. Mary, your support made it spectacular.
We couldn't have asked for better weather. Sunny, not too hot, not too cold, mild winds, the fall leaves turning....
Thanks to markz68 for helping scout and hide the event caches on an equally beautiful Saturday before the event. Thanks to legocoach for the killer geoswag and caches. Also for picking such a perfect location and great ideas. Thanks to nursenine for the great door prizes she pryed from the tight grip of the hospital...markz68 was denied...ha Thanks for the TB Mark.
Overall almost 40 cachers hit the trails….

After the experienced cachers are turned loose on the several hidden event caches along the beautiful Bear Creek trails, there will be a Geocaching 101 class for beginners wanting to know about Geocaching.  After the class, the beginners will start finding their first caches with the instructors.  Don’t have a GPS?  No problem!  There will be GPS units you can borrow for the day!

This class is also co-sponsored by the Community Education Coalition, in Connersville, as a family oriented event and they have provided the rent for the lodge, food, cache supplies, door prizes and even loaner Garmin GPS’s for the class.  Thanks CEC!!!

This is a simply wonderful family activity for those of you with pre-teens or teens, because it’s exciting and engaging, and because most geocaches are hidden by a beautiful view, an historic structure, or really amazing hiding place – in plain sight!

     Schedule:

We have the Lodge until 5 and will staff the lodge & leave all of the event caches out until then.

9:00 to 9:30 Sign in & Meet & Greet
9:30-10:00 – Welcome, Door Prizes, Travel Bug Swap, &
turn loose experienced cachers with coordinates.
10:30 Geocaching 101 – A local Community Education Coalition Sponsored class promoting Geocaching as a family activity.

Open until 5:00 for Geocaching and more visiting. Call the CEC at 765-825-7633 to register.
