Geocache Description:

This should be easy to locate as you get GREAT GPS reception up here. This cache is located on Coal Creek Mesa at an elevation of 8800 feet at the base of Mount Gunnison and provides a great view of the West Elk Wilderness Area and surrounding mountains. If you are in Paonia, you can see Mount Gunnison to the East. To get to the cache, take the county road up Minnesota Creek to N38 52.37 W107 29.59. At this location there is parking if you have ATV’s, Motorcycles or Horses. From this location you can also go to my other caches "Jumbo View" and "All Cracked Up" You can drive a 4WD (A good aggressive high clearance small one would be best) almost all the way to the cache but a “Pavement Queen” is not recommended as there are some sections of the road where brush will scrape the side of the vehicle. DO NOT travel the last several miles of the road if rain is to be expected. The road has several steep sections and will turn into a slick mess if wet. It is approximately 12 miles one way from the parking area to the cache. There are also many other 4WD and hiking trails near this area. The cache is an ammo box and contains 5 Happy Meal toys. Please rehide well. Enjoy the view.
P.S. A good side tour only a mile away is to go see the Indian Caves. Parking is located at approximate location N38 52.02 W107 20.77. From there, walk along a trail to the southeast for a 100 yards or so to the cliff edge where you can look down on part of the caves. If you are feeling brave, you can take the trail around the northeast side of the cliff to get to the caves. The trail contains a short section about 3 feet wide with an overhang on one side and a 100 foot drop on the other side. CROSS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!

Congratulations to chefstern for the FTF
