Geocache Description:

This cache is located near the summit of the Knott, a low fell located above Broughton Mills between the Dunnerdale and Lickle valleys. The top of the fell offers superb views of these two valleys and other features including the Duddon Estuary, the Black Combe range and the Coniston Fells and Caw are also in view.

The Knott offers an enjoyable (and usually quiet) short climb which can start from the Kiln Bank road summit (recommended) or from the Lickle valley via Carter Ground farm. There are good paths which traverse the fellside to the low pass behind the Knott, from there the grassy ridge of the fell is crossed to the summit which is about 5 minutes away. The top of the fell is notable for many unusual gullies and hillocks, as well as several prominent 'perched' boulders.

The cache itself is located near the large summit cairn. Please ensure that it remains tucked away and well hidden with stones. The cache is a regular sized box with plenty of swaps, and includes a disposable camera to take a picture of yourself (don't take this!). Note terrain rating of 2: typical Lake District paths, rocky and muddy in places.
