Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden off of the ground at treeline at nearly 1800 feet elevation. The view of Resurrection Bay and Seward, and the fantastic mountains that surround it, is well worth the effort necessary to get there. The nearby Clemens Cabin can be rented through the Chugach National Forest reservation system for overnight stays.
NOTE:The posted co-ordinates are not the true location.

This small multi-cache is part of Ridgeseeker and Suzaru's Lost Lake Series. The true co-ordinates for this cache are written inside of the trailhead containers at both the Porcupine Creek Cache and the Blueberry Ridges Cache; this hide can be found while coming through Lost Lake from either end, but only via the "winter trail" loop on the south end.

It is worth repeating, especially for those who have not yet been on the Lost Lake trail, that the Clemens Cabin can only be reached via the "winter trail" loop. Going north up the Lost Lake trail, turn right (east) at the trail marker about 1/3 mile from the trailhead. Going south via the Primrose trail, turn left at the trail marker at mile 4. The "winter trail" stays in the alpine meadows longer, past some wonderful ponds, and as a result has several steeper sections on its south end.

Inside the lid of this cache container you will find two numbers; each number consists of three digits. Use those numbers to make the necessary corrections to find the true location of the "Lost and Found It Cache" at Lost Lake.

SUBTRACT the first set of three hidden digits from the minutes of the North co-ordinates which are posted for that cache (disregard decimals). ADD the second set of three digits to the minutes of the West co-ordinates which are posted for that cache. The resulting co-ordinates will lead you to the midway cache at Lost Lake.

Friends and family of Dale Clemens built the cabin in his memory and turned it over to the Forest Service. Dale was a loved and admired teacher, coach, outdoorsman, family man, and businessman in Seward. He died early, but left his legacy in the area, including champion high school basketball teams and The Fish House, famous for marine hardware, fishing supplies, and ocean fishing charters. Dale loved to travel by horse, and was also one of the early snowmachine explorers of these hills. The cabin was built on posts, so that when the deep snows pile high the cabin sits right at the surface. Even the outhouse has been constructed so that winter campers don’t have to dig down to the door!

A First Finders Prize for the completion of the entire Lost Lake Series will be awarded: Burgers for two at the Seward Salmon Bake, provided, or hosted, by Ridgeseeker and Suzaru.
