The container has been replaced. It is now a fairly camouflaged plastic container, perhaps 5 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter.
This cache is so easy to find, it should be a negative number on the difficulty scale. Getting there may be another issue. There are three ways to approach this one. The best way is to park at the end of Terrebonne in San Dimas and start on Sycamore Flats motorway and find all of the other caches along the motorway. The trail to take for this one is easily visible from the peak marker of Johnstone peak when looking to the southeast.Coordinates for this marker are N 34 09.646 W 117 47.878 Please take some pictures and post them, because there are great views along this trail at various points. Sadly, I forgot my camera when placing the caches. The other approach to this one is to take the bluebird mountainway from Glendora and connect to the sycamore flats motorway below Johnstone peak. There are trail markers to guide you. However, using this approach will lead you throught the experimental forest. The experimental forest is technically closed to visitors, even though there is a road. The forest service is worried about the impact of light foot traffic on the trails, because they think letting people hike on the trails will eventually lead to worse and worse and worse things(The large trucks that drive these dirt roads apparently have less impact than hikers).
Also, make sure to stay on the trail and not cross No Trespassing signs. I've run into a property owner up here who is itching to call the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept on someone. He said he was calling them on me once, but since I never set foot on his land, I figure it was a bluff. Just so you know, you could have a run-in with this dude.
With that said, the approach to this cache that I officially endorse is from the south. Park on San Dimas Canyon Road east of the golf course. Park in one of the turnouts where the road becomes shaded. I suggest climbing up to the St. Dismas cache (GCJGJ2) and then continuing on up the hill. The terrain rating for this approach would be a 4.5 because it would involve some difficult climbing, bushwacking, and a lack of a trail. Whatever route you decide to take, have fun and bring sufficient water.
Taking the first approach would make for a round trip of 9-10 miles, I think.
