Geocache Description:

Follow a sealed track a short distance, starting near picnic table at side of lake below the lower carpark at Lake Barrine

Very short, easy walk to cache site. The Kauri here are not near as big as their New Zealand relatives despite their somewhat ambiguous name of “bull Kauri”, but of interest in terms of their distribution. Aside from the Atherton Tablelands and New Zelaand, Kauri species are also found in the mountains of Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Fiji.

Reception at the cache site isn’t great – only 8m accuracy after averaging 150 times. Therefore, the hint is rather explicit.

The cache container is a black painted 400ml snaplock container. When placed it contained log book, Brush Turkey Travel Bug and a small plastic sheep. There is little room for swaps, so only small items may be placed or exchanged.
