Introduction
XiaDog and I have enjoyed some of the more 'cache rich' areas,
and trips we've taken to visit them - especially JestJuggle's
School House Brook Park collection, FLalaMingo's
Dearth Hill caches, and Crop Circle's
CRC caches.
This cache is part of a group of caches in the Palmer Wildlife
Management Area off of Rondeau Road. There are three new caches
including this one, with more likely to come! Spending a few hours,
or an afternoon geocaching and exploring without having to drive
all over the place is a real treat, and we hope you enjoy this
area!
Going Up?
Do you prefer Going Up or Falling Down first? This cache will take
you further down Rondeau Road westward. Once past the large pond,
you will approach another smaller pond - inexplicably with the
remains of a boat ramp/dock. More frogs, more tossing stones, and
perhaps you'll find the old mattress that doubles as a trampoline
for the kids!
We won't pull any punches here - this cache might not be for
everyone. Okay - who are we kidding - the caching population is a
bit on the nuts side, so likely this one will be right up your
alley. But - do be careful when retreiving the cache - it's held in
place by a bungee cord so that the cache doesn't take an
unfortunate spill!
If you've done our
Fox Hill Micro, you'll know just the place to park!
This area is part of the Palmer Wildlife Management Area, and is
a nice area for hiking, birdwatching and - if you have young kids -
frog watching. The trails here are mostly 4WD type, with rocks and
ruts, but our 2 year old, Will has no problem walking with us on
the trails.
The Cache Proper
This cache is pretty much in plain sight, but you'll have to
have pretty good eyes to spot it. Again, due to GPSr bouncing
around a bit here, we'll probably put a hint together to help
wayward cachers locate the cache.
The cache itself is a .30 cal. ammo can, so there's room for
most regular size travel bugs, and assorted trade items.
Initial contents include a two 'fake' geocoins from the
Netherlands (originals were stolen), compass, Dosido cache repair
kit, princess crayons and notepads, 5-in-1 game, and a halloween
flashlight. A special pin for the FTF is also included!
