Dragon Ball Cache 4: Oolong

This cache series is dedicated to a very popular anime that has often been linked to the rise of the anime phenomenon is the US.

There are eight caches in this series. Seven of the caches are traditional caches that are a mix of regular and small caches hidden throughout the St Louis area.  The eighth cache is a cache that can only be found through the information gained from the previous seven caches in the series. These caches are named after characters from the first 13 episodes of the Dragon ball series.

The cache series is...

1.) Goku & Bulma

2.) Emperor Pilaf

3.) Mai & Shu

4.) Oolong

5.) Yamcha

6.) Pu'ar

7.)  Ox King

8.) Shenlong

What the dragon balls are...

The Dragon Balls are seven mystical balls which, when gathered together, will call forth the Eternal Dragon who will grant a single wish. Each of the balls has a number of red stars inside it corresponding to the number of the ball and when several balls are gathered together they glow. The Dragon Ball story begins with Bulma searching for a third Dragon Ball, when she meets a young boy, Goku. He has the four star ball, which he keeps to remind him of his Grandpa Gohan. The pair team up and the adventure of a lifetime begins. Using Bulma's Dragon Radar they quickly find the remaining balls, meeting many new friends along the way. After all the balls are gathered together, the Eternal Dragon, Shenlong, is called, granting a single wish.

The character of this cache...

Oolong... Oolong's initial appearance was as a villain who terrorized a village and kidnapped their young women. Unfortunately for him, the young women were quite comfortable being stolen and living in wealth and he never found the "nice shy girl" he was looking for. Son Goku defeated Oolong and the girls were returned to their village. Bulma decided that he might be useful on her Dragonball quest and persuaded him to join their expedition. He does have his moments. At first Oolong tries to take the Dragonballs for himself, but he eats a "sweetrot" (a play on sweetarts) that causes him to have diarrhea (the trots), anytime someone whistles "Sweee!" (a phrase used to call pigs in for feeding time), which Bulma often uses against him in the first saga. Eventually he becomes good friends with Goku and the others, and helps them to find more Dragonballs.

Oolong is a shapeshifting pig, although he was expelled from shapeshifting training for stealing the teacher's underwear and lacks the ability to change his form for more than five minutes at a time without a break. (Dragon Ball's other shapeshifter, Puar, completed the training and does not have this limitation.) With his shapeshifting, Oolong can look like anything at all.
