Derbychamp's family moved out of the Fox Valley area. They could no
longer mantain this cache, so we decided to adopt it. We have
modified it and adapted it into our "Shot in the Dark" series.
Enjoy the evil hide!
This is in Neenah's Mahler Park. Mahler Park hours are from
6:00am-9:30pm. Families can enjoy the playground, sledding hill,
soccer fields, and picnic area. There is also a decommissioned
M60A3 Tank (donated by the Wisconsin National Guard) on display at
the park entrance.
This is one BIG shot!
The original M60A3 Tank cost the military $1,291,865. It held a
four man crew.
The main gun fired a 33 pound (14.97kg), 105mm shell and held 63
rounds. Coaxial machinegun was 7.62mm with 5,950 rounds and the
Commander's machinegun was a .50 cal antiaircraft gun with 900
rounds.
This fantastic piece of machinery weighs 60 TONS and is powered by
a 750 hp Continental AVDS-1790 V-12 diesel. With this power plant
it is capable of 30 MPH.
It can climb a 49" wall and cross a ditch that is 108" wide. It can
also ford a 48" deep stream.
This is a basic M60A1 Tank; the A3 designation is due to the
"Option Package" that includes a Tank Thermal Sight (TTS), hybrid
solid-state ballistic computer, laser rangefinder, and turret
stabilization system.
