Nice walk over a small foot trail following the TJ River.
Parking can be had at the ballfields located at Sunset Rd. and International Rd. or Just north of the Dairymart Road bridge is a old unused road-bed. See LALO's crossing for coords.
This abandoned barge and the associated blue balls located near it were used a while back for dredging the TJ River near the new Dairymart Bridge. Just west of the new bridge is an old road-bed; which used to be Dairymart Road and there was an old stonework bridge that gave access to the south side of the river. The river used to be become dammed to the west of this bridge by sediment and the resultant pond was referred to as "Lake Superior", which would then overflow the low bridge. This barge and the sets of blue balls were used in the dredging of the sand build-up that occured as the river deposited it's sediment in the area. This barge has floated down the river during past El Ninos and floods to it's present location and is still on the move.
The last 30 yards or so from the waypoint will be bushwacking, it is foot reachable, but not much else. Also first person down these trails in the early A.M. may encounter a number of Wolf Spider webs. In its day this trail was referred to as the Ghost Trail, partially from the number of webs that can be encountered along it. After a rain this area may become somewhat inaccessible.
