This cache was placed as a tribute to a cacher named Scottie. Scottie, a cacher from the Cranbrook area, has such a good sense of humour that we hope that this cache reflects some of it. We met Scottie at a Geocache Event last summer in the East Kootenays and one of the caches we tried unsuccessfully to find was one of his called "This Cache is For the Birds". We received a very witty email from Scottie this summer pertaining to that cache and about relocating it, and I'm stealing a large portion of it verbatim (between quotations) for the description of this tribute cache.
“You should not have to DUCK and GROUSE or OWL with pain as you manoeuvre through the weeds to the cache location. You shouldn't even have to cry FOWL or "Go fly a KITE" at not finding the cache. It is placed so any guy or GULL should be able to find it and have a bit of a LARK in the process.”
“From the highway there are two places for a truck or SCOTER to”TERN off of to park. You can either turn off on Castle Road or on Springbend Road. “EIDER way should not take too much gas or PETERL. But one way or PLOVER, WREN you get to the parking area the walk should be SWIFT and almost as straight as a (SP)ARROW -- you shouldn't have to WING it! From HERON you” might “need to be EAGLE-eyed” or “HAWKish to find the cache. The short walk shouldn't have you PUFFIN -- even PIGEON-toed cachers can make it. (I suspect even a PELI-CAN). Soon you should have a FLICKER of hope as you approach the site. You won't need to act as a MINAH or even a SHOVELER, nor is a CRANE needed. Hopefully you will soon have your claws on the cache and be ROBIN the trinkets. You will then feel as proud as a PEACOCK and have something to CROW about . . . and will be RAVEN about” this cache. “I trust you sign the log as one good TERN deserves another.” (Scottie – July 2006)
Scottie has over 650 cache finds under his belt and 23 hides. Often you will find an unique button/pin of his in a cache. It was sure great meeting you last year Scottie and we hope to meet you again in our geo-travels “just for the pun of it!”
Hope you enjoy this quick and fun cache!
