Geocache Description:

This is the Red Key. Find all seven Keys to solve the puzzle and locate the witch's hidden cauldron.

The word "heksenkessel" is German for "witch's cauldron". Do you have what it takes to find the witch's hidden cauldron? The crafty witch has hidden seven (7) clues -- keys -- that, collectively, hold the secret to finding the witch's cauldron. Each clue takes the form of a puzzle piece. You will have to find all seven pieces and assemble them in the correct pattern to glean the secret.

All of the witch's caches initially contain traditional cache items following the Hallowe'en theme.

This is the Red Cache (cache #3) of the Hexxen Kettle puzzle. It is a traditional cache which initially contains 20 copies of the Red Key. (If there are no keys left when you find this cache, please make a note in the online log and the cache will be restocked with more copies of the key as soon as possible.)

The witch has hidden this cache near (but not necessarily within) a place of peaceful mystery and power, a place where the stones now speak for those whose voices are silent. While you search there, please look, read and learn, but respect the peaceful silence, and disturb nothing except the cache.

NOTE: The Key caches 1-7 do not need to be found in numerical order. All 7 are needed to solve the puzzle, but can be found in whatever order suits you.

September 2, 2009: If this cache has run out of keys when you find it, you can get an online version of all the keys here: Online version of Keys. Print a copy of each of the online keys, so that they are all the same size, and you should be able to solve the puzzle.

November 7, 2007: You can check your answers for this puzzle on Geochecker.com.

REVISED 03/18/2007: I have added a number of "reusable" keys to this cache - they are laminated and marked as being reusable. There are still several single-use keys, which you can keep as souvenirs if you wish (please take only one key from each cache). But, if you do not wish to keep the keys of the puzzle, please take a reusable key, and place all the reusable keys in the final cache when you are finished. This will speed up the turn-around time when the keys need to be restocked. Thanks.
