This is our fourth cache named in memory of our son. When he was younger, he just loved trains. The fact that his dad worked for the Chicago and North Western, CNW, really pleased him. I can remember him calling it the Daddy Choo Choo, not the Cheap and Nothing Wasted as the employees did.
The actual cache is as close to one you can get to by reaching out the window of a car as you can get. You will have to open a door and take a step or two, but any further comment will really give it away.
The location does not require you to go anywhere near UP RR property, it is in a public space. It will give you a view of where Bain Station used to be. At one time, the CNW made a lot of car loadings hauling cars from the American Motors plant in Kenosha. What people don’t realize is that the railroad name for this freight point is not Kenosha, but Bain Station. A fellow Geocacher has sent me some background information on Mr. Bain. I have put that into the first two notes on the cache.
One last comment, many people called them a Rambler, or a Nash or a Nash Rambler; but the real name that will live on in infamy is the Kenosha Kadillac!!
The container is unique. It contains the usual log, pencil, and plenty of space for the trinkets that are associated with Geocaching.com. For the FIRST TO FIND individual, there is a token confirming your success that is yours to take. The item was designed and made by David’s mom.
When you find the container, look at the decoration, we have to give credit to Genius Loci for his inspiration on the lettering. If you go to his cache, The Deathtrap- GCED34 you will see what we mean. PS, that is one awesome cache that fits David’s sense of humor.
The parking for this cache location can be as much of a challenge as the location.
Good luck and good hunting. When you find the cache, please leave everything as you have found it. Also, be carefully to watch for muggles, you will be out in the open on this one.
