Geocache Description:

This is an easy walk around the Parkgate area of Rotherham of about 2 miles in total taking in some recent and old history.

The above coordinates are NOT the final cache location - they are for the recommended parking place at Greasborough Road, Parkgate.

The actual cache is located at N 53 27.ABC W001 21.DEF.

In order to find the cache you have to visit two nearby places to obtain the coordinates - the first is a site of recent historical interest and the second is a site of old historical interest.

Go to The Big Seed. Great isn't it. Now read the plaque and examine the decorative surround and names and using the simple code of A=1, B=2, C=3 etc.
Find the name to the right of Mateen and take the first letter for A in the coordinates.
Find the name to the left of Colby and take the first letter for B.
Find the name to the right of Helena and take the first letter for C.

You name have the N coordinates. Now go to the Pumping Station and look for the four digit number (a year) on the arch. The best way to get to this waypoint is to go back to the car parking area and turn right up Westfield Road.

Take the fourth digit for D in the coordinates.
Take the third digit for E.
Finally subtract the first digit from the second digit for F.

You now have all the coordinates for the cache location - off you go. Look for the public footpath entrance a short distance from the pumping station and follow the well mareked path up a gentle slope. Admire the views and on a point of natural history try and identify the different trees in the nearby copse.

The cache box is a 1 litre tupperware style box that is clearly marked and in a waterproof bag. The box contains a cache card, log book, pen, pencil, sharpener, FTF card and assorted goodies including a TB.

Please ensure the cache is well concealed after your visit and cover your tracks. There is plenty of vegetation to assist you with the hide. Enjoy the cache.
