Please read note dated 16 April 2007 before undertaking this cache.

Dastardly Rating

It's The Wacky Races
This cache combines driving and walking with the emphasis on having fun and seeing parts of Weston-super-Mare. It is not a marathon. The driving is not excessive provided your route is the correct one and you walk approx 1½ miles. The cache is wheelchair friendly with the exception of Step 2 - The Starting Grid and retrieving the actual cache.

Please note that there is no racing involved in completing this cache.

The idea of the game is to score as many points as possible whilst finding
the shortest route and try to beat the evil ‘Dick Dastardly’ in the ‘Wacky Race’.

However, this is one race Dick Dastardly intends to win.

There are 2 available options to you known as:-

a. ‘FastTrack’ (Start + 4 stages (1, 6, 7, 8) and Finish
b. ‘Long Haul’ (Start + 8 stages + Finish) + 2 optional detours.

Which race you decide to participate in is up to you. However, only the ‘Long Haul’ route will qualify for the Leader Board and a chance to stand on the winner’s podium.

Step 1 – Internet Research - Optional
This step is purely optional but if undertaken will give you extra points. Find out the year that ‘The Wacky Races’ was 1st televised in the UK. Note result as AB where the figures that you need are the 3rd and 4th of a 4 digit answer divided by 2.

You may also wish to identify the characters of the show which may enhance your enjoyment of the race.

Step 2 – Starting Grid
The Starting Point of the game is N 51 21.318 W 002 53.724. How many squares does this object have on all of its sides (not including the tip and base) as CD.

The Race (FastTrack and Long Haul)
Locate N 51 21.C10 W 002 53.(D-1)(D-C)(D-7).

RESET TRIP ON YOUR GPS (The recording of actual mileage requires honesty here)

1st Bonus Stage (Long Haul - Optional)
Locate N 51 21.199 W 002 54.403 and identify this marker. The numbers that you require are the 1st from the top multiplied by the single digit in the bottom to get WX.

Stage 1 (FastTrack and Long Haul)
Locate N 51 20.(D-C-2)02 W 002 55.(D-C+1)(D-1)C and assist Professor Pat Pending in fixing ‘Ring-a-ding’.

What is the last digit of the company that is "watching you" as E.
What is the digit that corresponds to the last letter of this transports identification number when transposed to its position in the alphabet as F.

2nd Bonus Stage (Long Haul - Optional)

But whats this? Dick Dastardly is up to something.

The next 3 stages can be completed in any order. But which is the best route? You have to decide. Getting it wrong may add some distance to your journey and you will be sure to be out of contention for winning the race.

Stage 7 (FastTrack and Long Haul)

Locate N 51 20.(E+F)(P-F)(O-E-C) W 002 58.O(O-P)P. Identify the large white number on a red background located on two of these as QR.

Stage 8 (FastTrack and Long Haul)
Locate N 51 21.(Q-R)(Q+R)(E+F) W 002 58.DD(F-R). Identify this life saving device as ST where S is the 1st digit of the fine payable and T is the last digit of the Criminal Damage Act.

Finish (FastTrack and Long Haul)
Locate N 51 21.Q(P-S+T)T W 002 59.(D-C)(P-1/S)(D-C).

Cache is small plastic container containing log book and goodies. When found please move away from cache location to prevent suspicion from muggles.

Note In the event of the cache being muggled and provided that you undertook and completed the ‘Long Haul’ race your score will still count on the leader board.

Send us you’re A-Z answers and GPS Trip reading via email and we will score your effort. Did you achieve the ‘Peter Perfect’ score or did the ‘evil’ Dick Dastardly foil you !!!.

One final thing, please do not log the route taken or whether you undertook any of the optional detours as this may spoil the enjoyment (or not) of others who may take the challenge.
