tvnewsbiz: It's a new year, so it's time to put this one to bed for good. If you're still watching, thanks for being great caching friends. We'll start putting together plans for our third event over the summer and announce a fall date as soon as it is feasible. Keep a mid October Saturday on the calendar for now. All the best!

Geocache Description:

This celebrates an October event which marked our 100th cache placed.

A perfect fall afternoon, the autumn leaves peaking right on time, old friends and new ones sharing caching stories near a toasty bonfire. What could be better?

Thank you all for making the trip to our little corner of the world. We're so pleased to have hosted you, your great kids, your wonderful food... but mostly your superb fellowship.

Please grab the remaining travel bugs on the page as I will be archiving the event shortly. Finally, a lot of people asked for the chili recipe. Here it is:

Rush County Geocaching Chili

1 pound ground beef
1 10 oz can red enchilada sauce
1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
1 14 1/2 oz can peeled & diced tomatoes
1 15 1/2 oz can red kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
2 Tablespoons brown sugar
1 Tablespoon chili powder
1 Tablespoon onion powder
1 Tablespoon ground cumin
1 Tablespoon liquid chocolate syrup
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt (or more to suit taste)

Brown meat and drain well. In large pot, simmer meat with enchilada sauce for 5 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and cook covered over medium heat for 20-30 minutes, stirring often. Reduce heat and let simmer while serving. Total prep time: 45 minutes

Prepare side bowls of shredded cheese, raw onions, sour cream, cooked macaroni and sliced jalapeno peppers.

Serves 8-10 people. (For the geocaching event we prepared six times the above amount in a large covered lobster pot which yielded close to four gallons of chili.)

Thanks again for the fun. We'll see you next year.
