Shoebox Zoo Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

manylegs: I have decided to archive this one for just now - it seemed to come uncovered regularly. This time it looks like the animals have done a runner and returned to the wild.

Geocache Description:

An animal themed cache named after the BBC TV series

This cache is placed within the environs of Blackford Pond. It has been created by another of the junior members of Manylegs. For those detecting a certain similarity with another Manylegs' cache I have been asked to point out that the idea was originated by the creator of this one and borrowed by her little sister for Animal Funtime.

On the way to the cache feel free to take a short detour around the pond and admire the new Cala Duck House on the island in the middle.

The pond itself is home to a number of ducks and other aquatic birds. A heron has even sometimes been seen on the central island. There is an information board halfway around the pond describing the kinds of birds that can be seen. You could always take some bread for feeding the ducks with you as well, but they do tend to be fairly well fed - in fact it's amazing that some of them still float! There is usually a band of seagulls ready to scoff what they don't want!

Just beyond the pond is a separate wildlife reserve area that has been created in recent years. This also used to be a pond - which was used for curling. Unfortunately Mr MacRae's teashop is no longer in existence, so sustenance will have to be sought elsewhere.

The cache itself is a reasonable sized tupperware lock box containing a variety of plastic and other small toy animals which would be very happy to visit other zoos and farms. They would also like to meet animals from elsewhere. The cache has been relocated by a couple of feet to make it a bit less visible - and there are quite a few nettles in the vicinity, so long trousers and perhaps even gloves might be a good idea.

Please Note - dogs are not allowed within the pond area - although there is plenty of adjoining space around Blackford Hill and The Hermitage of Braid where they can be exercised freely.
