Geocache Description:

This is a night cache! You must verify (see below) that you found this at night to log this find. A somewhat steep hike up an abandoned road in a wilderness area.

Halloween is a favorite of ours; especially the stories. In honor of these tales, we aim to provide the intrepid cacher with all the main ingredients of a good Halloween yarn: darkness, an abandoned road, night sounds, and a cemetary.

PLEASE NOTE: It is essential that you be respectful of this area. The cache is not in the cemetary, but next to it. Even so, please be respectful and know that no disrepect was intended to either the quick or the dead.

Parking is at the bottom of S. Catamount Hill Rd. Proceed .54 miles up the hill to the cache area (bearing left at the fork), which is adjacent to the old Farley Cemetary of the abandoned Catamount Hill settlement. There are no headstones or markers that we could find.

The cache glows slightly, but is not directly visible. There is a CD of Night on Bald Mt. (a favorite for Halloween) for the FTF, and a glowing item for the first kid to brave this one. Please don't leave McD toys or the like, and if you're looking for a theme, glow items or Halloween would work.

USE CAUTION! The road degrades to loose stone at times, and could be dangerous underfoot.

BRING A FLASHLIGHT! In general, I like to let my eyes adjust and use ambient light (Full or near full Moon would be perfect for this) but either way, have a flashlight handy.

LOGGING YOUR FIND: To log this, you must take a photo with time/date stamp and post it with your log. Logs without photos will be deleted. If you don't have a digital camera, email me for a different verification method before seeking this one.

FINAL WORDS: If this sounds beyond you, please don't attempt this one. This is meant to be a challenging cache, and as such should only be attempted if you are up to the challenge. Also, don't go it alone; bring a caching partner! Beginning the hike at dusk is a good idea.

ENJOY!
