Skipssanden Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

cervisvenator: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,
Cervis Venator

Geocache Description:

English;
The cache is Located at Skipssanden, where pebble beaches, sand and a dip in the North Atlantic at
69 degrees NL and
8 degrees C in the water will be remembered for a spell!
Park at Stø Bobilcamp, and follow the marked path (a red "T" marked along the path)

According to a local legend there was a shipwreck here a long time ago, and the sole survivor from this wreck was a little girl tied to a wooden frame. Many people in the area say they can trace their families back to her! And the wooden frame is still there in
Langenes Church (build in the 1500-century).

Visit Vesterålen

From the village Stø you can take part in different activities. During the summer season whalewatchtrips are organized
by Arctic Whaletours. There are many walking and hike opportunities in Stø.
The most famous is the “Dronningruta”, The Queens Route, that will take you from Stø till Nyksund.
At Stø they also organize bird- and sealsafaris, fishing trips and searafting trips.
