The Queen's River preserve is a
151 acre site in Exeter, owned and managed by The Nature
Conservancy. Area features include clearly delineated trails
running along side the pristine Queen's River, a small and rare
Pine barren habitat, a very old family burial plot and a large
hay field. I have hiked here several times and have been struck
by it's cleanliness. Please help in maintaining it's condition
by carrying out everything you carry in.
You can find out more about The Queen's River Preserve by
visiting The Nature Conservancy's Website.
This cache is located about 0.6miles
from the parking area. Starting at the parking area, the path
begins as a wide dirt road. Follow the road and take the second
trail to your left. The first leads to the big hay field. Follow
the second left until you reach the trail head for "Howard's
Trail". From here you are on your own. Be sure to visit the Sherman
family burial plot on your right soon after leaving the wide dirt
road.
The cache container is a standard
ammo box. Care has been taken to ensure it will remain unaffected
even in times of high water. In keeping with the Nature
Conservancy's request, the hide is not more than a few steps off
the trail. Once found be sure to sit and enjoy the scenery. I
imagine it will be very buggy during the Spring and Summer months.
The coordinates were averaged over 15minutes under medium cover and
were accurate to within 4.7feet.
Congratulations to KnightsFootball on the FTF!
