Redisher Wood Local Nature Reserve is a wooded valley at the base
of Holcombe Hill and is one of the best ancient woodland sites in
the Borough. In late Spring the steep valley sides are carpeted
with Bluebells and Lesser Celandine lines the banks of Holcombe
Brook as it passes through the middle of the valley.
The woods are home to a number of important woodland bird
communities. The most important is the Pied Flycatcher which breeds
in most years. The Pied Flycatcher is a very rare breeding species
in the Greater Manchester area.
It's well worth exploring the numerous paths as there's always
something interesting to discover. But if you get tired, there is a
good resting place close to the cache site, one of the best benches
around!
The cache itself is a small lock and lock box - only small trading
items please.
