Geocache Description:

There are many sunken areas and holes throughout the cemetery and the woods surrounding it. Please watch your step. !????

The Holmesville Cemetery was established in 1823. Areas of it have seen years of neglect but have undergone recent efforts to restore and preserve the history found here. You will find headstones that have been dislocated from their intended placement and stones in random settings. Records of settlers in the area date back to 1799 and one source states that Revolutionary War graves are sited here. For more history check waypoint GCYTG2.
