In an area of Southport that even many Sandgrounders don't know of,
and in a place of peace and solitude.
Several paths approach the cache and it's located close to a
small brook which may need fording. Old railings and a
wooden board have been placed across the brook in one place but
after heavy rain wellingtons may have to be used. Also, parts of
both sides of the brook are muddy, and agility is required here and
for the final couple of feet to the cache. The paths too may be
muddy after rain and there are nettles in places. There are also a
few nettles very close to the cache, so hand and arm-wear may be
needed.
The cache:
In a clip-it plastic box, fairly well hidden.
PARKING: for a short walk park at the south east end of
Duke Street and go through the rusting large gate towards the
fields. For a longer, more pleasurable walk, park on Southbank Road
just south of Lonsdale Road and go down the single-stumped
footpath. This location is handy for the main Ormskirk-Southport
road.
A view from the longer, more pleasurable walk. A gravel path runs
most of the way
