The Tennis Grand Slam
The tennis grand slam is made up of four major tournaments played
on four different surfaces in four different countries over the
course of the year. Caches representing those tournaments are
linked below. To locate this final cache, you will need some
information recorded in the log books of each of those caches.
(Note: The French Open cache has been archived. Read the logs for
that cache to find the information you require.)
First, get the last names of the 4 champions honored in each of
the caches, and convert each name to a number using the dollar word
method (A=1, B=2, ... Z=26).
A = Last name of Australian Open Champion
B = Last name of French Open Champion
C = Last name of Wimbledon Champion
D = Last name of US Open Champion
The information listed in each cache also shows which grand slam
tournaments the honored player won, and it which years. Use that
information to answer the following questions.
E = Total number of Grand Slam tournaments won by men.
F = How many of the 4 honored champions have won more than one
grand slam tournament?
XXX = (A+B+C) x 5 - (E x F)
YYY = (E x D) + F
To get into the final match, head to N44 45.XXX W093 19.YYY

You will find paved parking areas relatively near each location
you visit.
You may wet your feet seeking stage 2, but doing so is not
necessary. The driest distance between two points is not
necessarily a straight line. |
