Geocache Description:

The coordinates above take you to the first of three cemeteries you will visit in this four-stage multi-cache. At each cemetery you will find numbers that lead you to subsequent stages until the final cache is reached. These smaller cemeteries contain the graves of some of the first European settlers of this area. You will see the graves of veterans from wars ranging from the War of 1812 to the Civil War to World War I. You will see birthdates in the 1700’s. And you may recognize the names of families who are prominent in the area today.

Some of the grave markers in these cemeteries are very hard to read. However you are directed to markers that are in good condition and are not hard to read. Having said that, if you attempt this one when the ground is covered with snow, there is one marker that you will not likely find since it is flat on the ground. Please e-mail the owner for information that would otherwise be nearly impossible to find if you plan to seek this cache when snow is on the ground.

The cache may take over an hour to complete. Although the cemeteries are small, you may have to spend some time in each exploring the markers referenced below and satisfying your own curiosity in these places of interest. Also, be prepared to drive the following distances between stages of this multi-cache:

From stage one to stage two: nearly a mile
From stage two to stage three: about three miles
From stage three to the final: less than one-half mile.

The final is located in a park that is open from 7 am until 10 pm. Because the park is open past sunset, you could begin at twilight and enjoy a night cache at the final.

Please be respectful of the dignity inherent in these places.
