Geocache Description:

A short trip around Kalvøya

For most Norwegians Kalvøya is probably associated with the former Kalvøya (or Isle of Calf as it was called) music festival. See also the geocache Isle of Calf by Mostly Moose. For locals it is also a much visited recreation area, used for a number of different activities like excercise/training, swimming/sunbathing and fishing. It also hosts a naturist beach on the north-eastern part of the island.

What is less known is that Kalvøya also has several protected areas due to geology and plant life. On the island you can also find at least 3 different burial mounds dating from the iron age. The cache is placed on a hill where you will see 2 such mounds. For information about the burial mounds see the signpost at the waypoint "INFO".

Note! All such burial mounds are protected by law. Do not move any stones while searching for the cache.

In order to find the cache you will have to complete a short round trip of the island. Along the way you will find several signposts. There is a question associated with each post. Answer the questions and enter the returned numbers into the formula.
