Geocache Description:

On the Beaver Lake Forest Trail, in a grove of large Red Cedars. Educational signs describe the forest environment.

From the Island Hwy, take the turn-off towards Port Alice. Soon you'll see Beaver Lake Rec Site on your right, and just past it is Beaver Lake Forest Trail on your left. Turn left up the short road to the parking area at N50 35.971 W127 18.520. The trail is a loop which you can travel either way. The official start (with the first forestry educational sign) is under the Hydo line; the other end is the larger pathway to the left of the Hydro line. Path is a well maintained wood chip surface. Easy walking, but due to log stairs as it goes up and down the little creek valley it would be tricky for a stroller or a bike. There is a covered picnic hut along the way. There are a couple of forks in the trail, but cedar grove is easy to find. Cache is off the trail a bit but footing is not too difficult, though you do have to push through some brushy undergrowth.
