I used to bring my kids to this park a bunch when they were little, especially when Mrs. eP wanted some peace and quiet for a bit around the house.
This cache is located in the Aircraft Observation Area at the end of Runway 8 of Fort Lauderdale Executive airport. The picnic tables and benches offer a great view of the airplanes landing from the west. You'll see all kinds of private aircraft, from small planes to corporate jets ... you may even see a stunt biplane or an antique fighter fly by.
Bring a snack and plan to stay a while. While the cache is not in a wheelchair-accessible location, the viewing area certainly is. There is handicapped parking and a ramp with rails that take you to the viewing area.
If you look out over the grassy area in front of the runway, to the north and west of the park, you may notice small mounds with white PVC pipes in the shape of the letter "T" stuck in them. These are burrowing owl nests, and the T's serve as markers for the folks who mow the grass as well as perches for the male burrowing owls.
You can listen to the communication between the aircraft and the tower on a loudspeaker located in the park. However, the speaker seems to be broken more often than not - if you happen to have a VHF radio, you can listen to the tower on AM frequency 120.90 MHz.
You're looking for a nano capsule ... bring a pen, but leave the trades in the car. Good luck.
