Page Forty-Seven Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

MapheadMike: I pulled this one for several reasons, the main one being that I'm not getting work assignments down in this area as much as before, and therefore am not getting to the area for cache maintenance as often as I want to. I made it by on Monday and cleaned it up.

Thanks to all who visited. Congratulations to those who filled their Delorme grid with a visit here. Apologies to the late visitors who found this in imperfect shape, as well as anyone who had this on their to do list and didn't make it.

Geocache Description:

DO NOT TAKE THE STAMP!!! This is a simple letterbox hybrid in Lantern Acres Game Land. DO NOT TAKE THE STAMP!!!

This is a hybrid in Lantern Acres Game Land. You should check ncwildlife.org for a road map of the area, as well as information on hunting seasons. Orange clothing is a good idea during some parts of the year.

The idea of the Delorme Challenges inspired my best stamp yet (that's not saying much though). DO NOT TAKE THE STAMP!!! This hybrid is cross-posted with text clues on Atlasquest.com and Letterboxing.org, and the coordinates here. You can use either or both sets of info to log this either or both ways.

UPDATE 11-23-06: After Night-Hawk's adventure, I added some information about the trailhead waypoint.

UPDATE 4-9-07: Some greenery (poison ivy) that wasn't present when I placed the cache has shown up. There isn't much to do about it, since I don't see an acceptable spot nearby that isn't afflicted by PI or thorns. Your favorite PI precautions are in order here. The nearest public washrooms are in the state park to the south, the rest area in Columbia to the east, and the rest area in Plymouth to the west.

UPDATE 5-29-07: I went in and moved the cache to a PI free spot. We'll see if this works out. Please recover the cache completely, as the spot is a bit closer to the trail than I'm comfortable with.
