After the dissapearance of
Sneak goes Hollywood my life became very busy and my search for
the Sneak family went to the back burner. In an attempt to pick up
some extra funding for my research I picked up a second job working
a few hours at a local store. The catch 22 of it is the lack of
time working has left. Fortunately, research continues, but
slowly.
One evening, I was heading into work for the evening and I heard
a familiar voice call my name. I turned and found an unfamiliar
face peering at me.
"Do you remember me?" The figure asked.
"Well," I began, trying to remember, "you sound familiar,
but..."
Before I could finish the figure burst into laughter then said,
"It's me! Remember? From the Beach!" It was then he stepped into
the light and I could see him clearly. If I had seen him before
hearing him I would have never recognized him, but now everything
clicked into place and I knew who he was at once.
"Sneak? You were trying to make a movie last time I saw you. You
disappeared, what happened to you?" I said a little surprised.
"Well, that's a long story best left for another time, though you
are right about the movie. However, I'm happy to say that it's been
made and doing quite well, though if only in independant circles."
He asnwered.
"Wow, that's great to hear!" I said, "But what are you doing here?"
I thought about the way that sounded then added, "I had assumed you
ran off to Hollywood."
At this the Sneak formerly known as 'goes Hollywood' got a
reflective look on his face then said, "Well, I did and, yes, it
was there I made my movie; it was fun being able to direct.
However, I've come back to work on another project."
"Another movie?" I asked.
"More or less, yes, but I need your help." He answered.
"Um, mine?" I stammered (my packed schedule came rushing to the
front of my mind), "I have to admit I don't know much about making
movies."
The Director Sneak burst out laughing (at which point I started to
realize the laugh was a little on the annoying side, but I shrugged
the thought aside). "No, nothing like that," he said,"I just need
some...data, you could say. Not entirely different from your own
research. In fact, let me cut to the chase, I have a deal for
you."
This piqued my interest, apparently getting to Hollywood had made
the little fella street smart as well as successful (if in only
independent circles). "Go on." I finally said.
"Great! In short, I need to know what the next big thing in movies
is going to be. In exchange, I'll tell you a little of what I was
able to learn about my family as I was heading out west. Since you
seem to be so interested in us, I figure it's a pretty good deal."
He smiled a large cheshire-like grin. He knew he had me.
"Well," I began,"It sounds like a very good deal but like I said
before I'm not sure how I could help you. I mean, what exactly is
it you want me to do?"
"Ah, actually that's pretty easy. Remember how you were able to get
folks to come and read my screenplay? I need you to do something
similar again. Only this time I need to know the favorite movies of
as many people as possible." He said.
"But I don't understand," I began, but like before, he cut me off
(at least it wasn't with a laugh this time).
"'Those who fail to learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.'
Ever heard it?" He asked (apparently rhetorically because he
continued without waiting for an answer), "The opposite is also
true."
"Ah," I feigned understanding, "okay. I think I can do that. Where
should I send them?"
"I'll set up right here. Do you see that?" He pointed to a spot a
couple feet away I hadn't noticed and probably wouldn't have
noticed if he hadn't pointed it out. "I'll be waiting for them in
there when they stop by. Make sure you tell them to let me know
what their favorite movies are! After I collect about 20 or so I'll
let you in on all I know. Sound good to you?"
"Okay," I agreed, "But I should warn you, not many of my, friends
come out this way, it could be a while before you get that
many."
"Not a problem, I'm in no hurry." He said.
So, long story short, the 'Director' Sneak is back in town. I
have to admit that he looks a lot different than the last time I
saw him. Either the trip our west was rough on him or his time as a
director was because he's completely unrecognizable from the last
time I saw him. (I suspect this *could* have been due to plastic
surgery but I didn't think to ask him.) He's bigger than he was
before and he's also willing to make your information worth your
while. However, it'd be nice if you brought something to trade
since his stock is a little limited. He could use a few odds and
ends as movie props but there's nothing in particular he's looking
for right now, so if you have something laying around that you
think may look good on screen feel free to drop it off.
I should also mention that the Director's hiding spot isn't too
well hidden. He didn't want to be hard to find but he's definately
not going to find himself in the hands of a wandering muggle
anytime soon. While the spot is pretty quiet at night there can be
muggles around pretty much anytime of the day so please practice
stealth as necessary. Also, please be sure to replace the
Sneak as found. While he shouldn't attract too much attention,
there is evidence of muggle activity in the immediate vacinity.
(Cachers who don't enjoy stealth caching may want to pass this one
up; just don't tell the Sneak I said that.)
Good luck, and as always, please email me if you have any
questions!
